Block 33 (#131) from Civil War Anniversary Quilts, quilt #3

Block 33 (#131) Some 12 or 15 Prisoners, page 261 & 115

4 fabrics (see photo in book)

Black--1 square 4 3/16” cut on both diagonals

Tan--1 square 4 3/16” cut on both diagonals

Red--2 squares 2 5/8”X 2 5/8”

Yellow--2 squares 2 5/8”X 2 5/8”

1. Sew 1 tan/cream triangle to 1 black triangle with black on top, repeat to make 2

2. Sew 1 black triangle to 1 tan/cream triangle with tan on top, make 2

3. Sew yellow and red squares to make a 4-patch

4. Sew triangle unit to each side of 4-patch (placing them so that 2 black triangles are in top and bottom and 2 tan/cream triangles are on the sides. Match seams!

5. 6 ½” block, trim if needed.

Tip. I cut black and tan squares 4 ¼” (in case I lost my ¼” seam) and sliver trimmed when finished to 6 ½” square.

Note to all--I’ll be on a cruise until 4 Feb so next 2 blocks will be late.
