Trunk Show! Showing a few of my quilts made with Eleanor Burns and a couple of others.

Soma of Whims and Fancies is having a virtual trunk show. What a great idea! There are even prizes besides all the wonderful eye candy one can see.  Here are a few of mine:

First finished quilt, hand quilted.

Dancing Light--had to try Caryl Bryer Fallert's High Tech Tucks design after I saw it!

My first completed hexie quilt, lent to El for a bed turning (almost a charm quilt but ended up using 2 of some of the "Civil War" prints to make it Queen sized!)

From El's Quilt Blocks on American Barns--I made  3", 6" and 12" versions of all the blocks (and matching barns)--this is my 6" version that made the book!

Stars Galore.  I made this one from the 12" flag block and an 'blown up version of 6" flag (Americana Star) from El's Quilt Blocks on American Barns with star sashing--made the book and Quilt! magazine!!!  Obviously I like it as it's at the top of my blog.....

My 6" version of El's Ladies of the White House (yep, made the book!) Still need to quilt my 12" version.....

Victory!  My Victory quilt with El (first quilt to make it into one of her books!!)

Mrs. Cleveland's Star from one of the patterns in Ladies of the Whitehouse.  This one made the book too.  I'm very lucky that I get to sew El.

Sewing with El

Well, it's been a week since I went down to San Marcos for Block Party with El.  El had gone into hospital for tests following the morning class so we had Orion teaching the new blocks--he was very funny!  Now that her surgery is over and was successful I feel a bit better about posting my 'homework' from last week.  I've been so worried.

She has been doing 'Quilts from El's Attic' which has mostly been 30s quilts but this month included Goose on the Pond and she had one quilt from the turn of the last Century and there was a 19th Century conversational print in a couple of blocks--too cool!  You don't get to see these very often as they were primarily used for childrens' clothing and items.  I may have to use some of my conversationals in my September quilt!  The 3 blocks/quilts this month were Goose in the Pond, Crow's Nest & Arrow Blocks.
August class had 3 different fans so I made a few of each style and put them together in a very modern setting, just for fun.  I used 30s conversationals for these.  Here's "30s fans meet 21st Century", I may add more fans....

Eleanor Burns Block Party: Quilt's From El's Attic

Taking a break from my current obsession--here's some of the projects from July (Dresden) and Aug (fans) Block Party with El.
12 blocks hand appliqued Dresdens--haven't decided what border treatment to do (ice cream cone? Wavy? Scalloped? Straight orange?)  Decisions, decisions!
A wee topper for Fan type #1 using fabrics I got from a friend at Block Party! Probably have to give it to her now.....
This one is 'rainbow' (don' t notice that I got the pink and orange switched....) conversational 30s "Scalloped Fan", machine blanket  stitched--I've made 9 block so far--not sure what I'm going to do with them and there's still a 'basket fan' to make.....
