Civil War Anniversary Quilt #3 Block 45

Block 45 (#143) Peace Would Soon Be Adjusted, pg 27 & 126

3 or 4 fabrics: Blue (outside edges), Red, Cream with circular image or square and a circular or oval image you appliqué to cream square

A. Cut 2 Squares at 2 3/8” X 2 3/8” Blue, cut on 1 diagonal.

B. Cut 1 square 4 3/16” X 4 3/16” Blue, cut on both diagonals

C. Cut 4 squares 2 5/8” X 2 5/8” Red

D. Cut 1 square 2 5/8” X 2 5/8” Cream with image (or cut the square of cream and appliqué a 2” circular or oval image to center)

1. Sew 2 large B Blue triangles to opposite sides of C Red square, repeat to make 2 units.

2. Sew A small Blue triangles to side of C. Red square, repeat to make 2 units.

3. Sew A small Blue Triangle to end of units made in step 1, making 2 corner units.

4. Sew Units from Step 2 to either side of D center square with image.

5. Sew units from Step 3 to each side of unit in step 4.

Done!

I think this was supposed to be done with curved sewing but it’s too tiny for me to try!
