Civil War Anniversary Quilts, #3 Block 36

Block 36 (#134) Battle at Fisher’s Hill (pg. 264 & 118)

6 Fabrics:

2 pinks, 3 green and white/cream

Cut

A. 2 @ 3 7/8” squares dark green and cut on one diagonal (these are the corners)

B. Cut 1 square of dark pink 4 3/16” X 4 3/16” and cut on both diagonal

C. Cut 2 @ 2 3/8” X 2 3/8” medium green (2nd green) and cut on 1 diagonal

D. Cut 1 cream square 2 11/16” X 2 11/16” and cut on both diagonals

E. Cut two squares medium green (3rd green) 1 5/8” X 1 5/8” and cut on 1 diagonal

F. Cut one square pf pink (second pink) 1 9/16” X 1 9/16.

1. Sew 2 E (green #3) triangles on opposite sides of F (pink square). Press out and sew remain 2 E triangles to other 2 sides.

2. Sew 2 D triangles (cream) to opposite sides of unit from step 1. Press out and sew remaining 2 D triangles to other 2 sides.

3. Sew 2 C triangles (green #2) to opposite sides of unit from step 2. Press out and sew remaining 2 C triangles to other 2 sides.

4. Sew 2 B triangles (pink #1) to opposite sides of unit from step 3. Press out and sew remaining 2 B triangles to other 2 sides.

5. Sew 2 A triangles (green #1) to opposite sides of unit from step 4. Press out and sew remaining 2 A triangles to other 2 sides.

Done! Square in a square in a square in a square…..you get the idea!
