Civil War Anniversary Quilts, quilt #3, Block 41

Block 41 (#139) pg. 269 & 123, Prisoners Are Going to be Exchanged

3 fabrics:

A. Yellow

B. Cream

C. Green

Cut:

2 11/16” X 4 1/16 rectangles from cream and yellow. Fold in half along long edge to find center. Stack and cut on diagonal from left bottom to top right

2 11/6” X 4 1/6” rectangles from yellow and green. Fold in half along long edge to find center. Stack and cut on diagonal from top left to bottom right (mirror image of previous rectangles)

Cut 2 green and 2 cream rectangles 1 5/16” X at least 4 ¼” (these will be trimmed later)

1. Crease to find center of all pieces.

2. Matching centers, sew Yellow triangle to Green strip on one side and Cream triangle on the other side (make 2). See picture for placement. Trim these to 3 ½” squares (told you we’d trim this strips later!)

3. Matching centers sew Green triangles to Cream strip and Yellow triangles to opposite side, make 2. Trim to 3 ½” squares.

Sew units from step 2 and step 3 into a 4 patch --see picture for placement.

Much easier than it looks!!
