Civil War Anniversary Quilts #3, Block 46

Block 46 (#144) My Inconsistency, p. 274 & 127

4 fabrics/colors, red, cream, brown and image fabric (see photo pg. 127)

A. Cut 2 squares 3 7/8” X 3 7/8” Red, cut both on one diagonal (round 3)

B. Cut 1 square 4 3/16” X 4 3/16” Cream and cut on both diagonals (round 2)

C. Cut 2 squares 2 3/8” X 2 3/8” Brown and cut both on one diagonal (round 1)

D. Cut 1 squares 2 5/8” X 2 5/8” of an image ‘on point’ (center

Square in a square in a square in a square in a square!

1. Sew 2 C (brown) triangles to opposite sides of D (image). Press triangles out and trim tips.

2. Sew remaining C (brown) triangles to remaining sides of D image fabric. Press triangles out and trim tips.

3. Sew 2 B (cream) triangles to opposite sides of unit made in Step 2. Press triangles out and trim tips.

4. Add remaining B triangles to other two side. Press triangles out and trim tips.

5. Sew 2 A (red) triangles to opposite sides of unit from step 4. Press triangles out and trim tips.

6. Add last 2 triangles to remaining two sides. Press triangles out and trim tips.
