Civil War Anniversary Quilts #3, Block 47

Block 47 (#145) A Home of my Own, pg. 275 & 128

3 fabrics: brown, tan/cream and image fabric (fussy cut, on point)

Cut:

A. 8 squares of Brown 2 1/8” X 2 1/8”, cut on 1 diagonal (16 triangles)

B. 2 strips of tan/cream 1 ½” X 3”

C. 1 strip of tan/cream 1 ½” X 6 ½”

D. 4 squares of image fabric 2 ¼” X 2 ¼” ‘fussy cut“ on point

 

1. Sew 2 A brown triangles to opposite sides of D image square. Press out (towards triangles). Repeat with 2 brown A triangles to remaining two sides. Make 4.

2. Sew 2 of units from step 1 to each of the long sides of B tan/cream strip. Make 2.

3. Sew units from step 2 to top and bottom of C tan/cream strip along long sides.

Done!

4 ‘square-in-a-square’ units connected by sashing.
