Sports was a common theme for conversational or novelty shirtings near the end of the century. Here's a few to delight your eyes (I want them all.....)

A few more 'real' 19th Century conversationals
I found the 'dog on painter's pallet" that was released by Judie Rothermel in 2003 originally printed in Europe in March 1882. This is only the second Victorian conversational print I've found that has been reproduced in recent times.
Several of the new/old crescent moons with stars are similar.
Found a picture on the web from a selection of 'mill engravings' (copper roller, I'm guessing) I love the bundles of fabrics on the lower left!
Here's a 'mill engraved roller print or discharge on dark grounds from 1885

One popular motif during the last 20 years or so has been an anchor. Here are a few from 19th Century (or turn of Century!)
Love this last one!

Eleanor Burns Block Party: Quilt's From El's Attic
Taking a break from my current obsession--here's some of the projects from July (Dresden) and Aug (fans) Block Party with El.
12 blocks hand appliqued Dresdens--haven't decided what border treatment to do (ice cream cone? Wavy? Scalloped? Straight orange?) Decisions, decisions!
A wee topper for Fan type #1 using fabrics I got from a friend at Block Party! Probably have to give it to her now.....
This one is 'rainbow' (don' t notice that I got the pink and orange switched....) conversational 30s "Scalloped Fan", machine blanket stitched--I've made 9 block so far--not sure what I'm going to do with them and there's still a 'basket fan' to make.....
