Block 19 ( #117) Her Whole Heart, page 247 and 101 Civil War Anniversary Quilts
4 fabrics
A Center, image on point, 3 ¼”
B 4 cream (in photo page 247) @ 2 ¼”, draw diagonal line on each
C 4 grey (in photo page 247) @ 2 ¼”
D Corners, 2 navy @ 3’ cut on 1 diagonal
Sides, 1 3 ½” cut on both diagonals, quarter triangles
1. With a B and a C right sides together, sew ¼” on each side of the diagonal line, cut apart, repeat with other 3 B and C squares, makes 8 HSTs at 1 7/8”
2. Looking at photo for correct placement, sew 2 of the HST together (be careful here), sew appropriate units to top right and bottom left on center image square
3. add smaller (quarter) D triangles to each side of top left and bottom right double HST units, add to center square (see picture)
4. Sew larger D triangles to double HST units and square block to 6 ½
I actually used 3 ½” (since I just cut a 3 ½” strip) for all the navy squares, including the corner ones, and trimmed down after sewing to block, but 3” should be enough.
